Bealsmill

Feasibility Study for Two Contemporary Dwellings

3HW was asked to produce a feasibility study for a private client to create two contemporary dwellings on a former industrial site in the small village of Bealsmill. The design concept for the scheme was to create two distinct contemporary dwellings which sat comfortably in their surroundings.

3HW’s design proposed to evoke the site’s former use to create a mill pond by diverting a culvert which runs across the eastern boundary. The mill pond would help to control water flow across the site, with a sluice gate utilised at times of increased capacity as well as being an attractive feature of the overall design.

3HW also proposed that the mill pond would have ground source heat pipe ‘slinkies’ installed across its base to provide renewable energy for the properties together with Photovoltaic / Solar Thermal collectors and rainwater harvesting.
